Exercise before, during and soon after childbirth isn’t the same as other exercise. Your mind and body are different now. They are going through a series of rapid changes unique to this amazing stage of your life.

Labor can be very stressful for babies as well as mothers. However, babies of moms who exercised during pregnancy have been shown to be less stressed by labor and delivery and recover from birth more quickly ( Hall & Kaufman, 1986).

Exercise has been shown that moms who exercise regularly in early to mid pregnancy experience a more rapid growth of placenta and have improved placental function. At any rate of uterine blood flow, oxygen and nutrient delivery to the baby will be higher in a mom who exercises than the one who doestnot.
(Clapp,1998; Wolfe,Brenner, &Mettola,1994)

Exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of premature labor and low birthweight babies. Exercise is also correlated with higher APGAR scores ( a measure of babys physical condition at birth that takes into account babys appearance , strength of crying , muscle tone and other physical characteristics)

Exercise during pregnancy has been shown to improve cardiorespiratory health of the baby , resulting in high cardio fitness level that extends into childhood ( Clapp & Little , 1995)
